In September 2023, I was lucky enough to be invited to Ardnamurchan Distillery for a day of learning about the distillery and better yet, touring the warehouses and sampling direct from the casks. As an independent bottler, it is actually incredibly rare to have this level of access to the casks that we purchase, instead often buying from a list and undertaking the assessment of samples after a purchase.

This 8 year old peated bourbon cask was my favourite of the day, the perfect balance of earthy peat and soft fruit with not too much cask influence so that it really shows the true nature of the Ardnamurchan spirit.

Ardnamurchan have led the way for the new generation of Scotch whisky distilleries, quickly building a reputation for their outstanding quality of whisky. Environmentally friendly, supportive of their local community and incredibly hospitable to those who make the long pilgrimage to their home, Ardnamurchan sums up everthing that is good about Scotch whisky.
